Plaque and tartar can lead to tooth decay. We’ll walk you through the various ways dental restorations can repair and restore your smile ...
Cavities are caused by an excess of plaque on the enamel that surrounds your teeth. This bacteria eats away at the enamel of your tooth, causing a tiny hole (cavity). Dr. Liu will remove the decay and clean the damaged area before cementing a porcelain filling in the space left behind.
If a tooth already has multiple fillings or an extensive amount of decay, we may may suggest a crown. A crown completely encapsulates the tooth, preventing the spread of decay.
An inlay is added to the spaces in between the cusps of a tooth to protect its structure. It’s durable, long-lasting, and custom made to fit the specific shape of your own tooth.
Similar to an inlay, an onlay is custom-made to fit your tooth. It covers one or more cusps to protect your natural tooth, and is sometimes called a “partial crown.”
If the tooth is beyond repair, we may recommend a dental bridge. This involves removing the damaged tooth, preparing the surrounding teeth with custom crowns so they can support a replacement tooth, and cementing an artificial tooth into the gap –- creating a "bridge" between the teeth.
