Underneath your tooth’s enamel, there’s pulp consisting of nerves and blood vessels. If tooth decay is left untreated, an infection can spread to the nerves inside of your tooth –- causing a painful infection known as an abscess.
A root canal is the only solution that will save the tooth from extraction, but there’s nothing to worry about. The dentist simply removes the infected pulp and seals the tooth. A root canal takes just one or two visits, and you’ll feel much better without that painful infection.
